The D100CPM422 is a computer interface network module manufactured within the Cutler-Hammer product line. The DC100PM422 ensures that there is communication between D100 Programmable Logic Controllers and host computers. The network module is usually assigned a station address; this station address enables host computers to be connected with up to sixteen network modules. Most 14 I/O controllers have built-in interface modules, coupled with station address capability; apart from a built-in computer interface, 14-I/O controllers also have six outputs and eight inputs. In addition, they have a built-in speed counter and an expandable I/O capacity. The D100CPM422 controller makes use of the RS-422 transmission, although for transmission to take place, an RS-422/232 converter must be present. These computer interface network modules are usually connected to personal computers with RS-2332 serial ports through the converter. The RS-422/232 port is very efficient since it is equipped with its own power supply. The D100CPM422 interface module usually connects to the 14-I/O module programmer port. The DC100CPM422 then links undeviatingly to the computer. If intended for RS-232C communications, the DC100CPM422 connects directly to the converter. Always use a terminating resistor for one-to-one connection.
To obtain the DIP switches and the battery in the D100CPM422 interface, detach its single screw, found to the left of the front panel. Carefully remove the panel. The DIP switches are normally on the upper edge of the circuit board. The DC100CPM422 is a lightweight module, weighing approximately 0.567 kilograms. The Computer interface module consumes a maximum power of 200 mA, which is supplied from the PC. The module can operate only under a temperature of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. Its maximum storage temperature to avoid early deterioration is 75 degrees Celsius.
