The D100ED40 is an expansion rack from Allen Bradley, designed for the cutler hammer series. This a 40-pin expansion I/O rack is used along with a D100 series PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). The D100ED40 expansion extends the functionality of and offers additional I/O ports for a large number of PLC applications when connected with the cable built in the expansion unit. The D100ED40 has an input power supply requirement of around 115 Volts AC, while the DC input voltage is around 24 Volts. The D100ED40, when used with a combination of other accessories, provides the user with 24 input ports and 16 output ports. These ports are driven by a transistor. While installing the D100ED40 along with the D100 system, it should be noted that the ideal temperature range is between 0 and 60 degree Celsius and that the ambient humidity is less than 95% without rapid temperature changes. The D100 series of controllers are resistant to electrical noise and can sustain vibrations of less than 0.5 millimeters. It is highly recommended that the D100ED40 expansion rack is mounted along with the controller in a protective enclosure, which should be able to sustain industrial environments.
The dimensions of the D100ED40 are 12.6 inches (320 millimeters) in length, 4 inches (100 millimeters) in height and 4.4 inches (112 millimeters) in width. The D100ED40 is to be mounted on 4 screws, in mounting holes with a diameter of 5 millimeters. The mounting screws to be used are “M4”. The D100ED40 has a rated voltage of 24 Volts DC internal for dry contact or external voltage of 855 to 132 Volts AC for 115 Volts AC contact. The input current is 10 mA for both AC and dry contacts. The ON delay is 5 milliseconds while the OFF delay is 15 milliseconds, for both dry and AC contacts, whereas the ON level is CLOSE for Dry contacts and 75 Volts minimum for AC contacts, and the OFF level is Open for dry contact and 25 Vols maximum for AC contact.
