The D100ERC8 is an 8 I/O expansion module from a D100 series of the Micro PLCs manufactured by Eaton Cutler-Hammer. The D100ERC8 expansion module requires 115 Volts of AC for its I/O. Four inputs are 24 Volt DC rated while four outputs are relays for 24 Volts DC or 240 Volts AC (2A contacts at 240 Volts AC). This module’s outputs are set on the lower side of the module, while its inputs are on the upper side. Every input/output state is visualized over signaling lamp. The D100ERC8 is delivered with an 80-millimeter long cable. The Cutler-Hammer D100 series is engineered as small-size PLC platform. When there is a need for a greater number of input/output points, the D100ERC8 expansion chassis comes handy in expanding PLCs capabilities. Any D100 series micro PLC can have a maximum of 2 expanding modules. Expansion units are connected by a cable to the controller to provide additional inputs and outputs. If there is an analog module in the system, it must be connected to the controller before a digital expansion module like D100ERC8. Addresses on this I/O expansion module continue from addresses from the controller that it is attached to, or from addresses from previous expansion module. The addresses are numbered in octal number sequence.
The D100ERC8 has operating temperature range 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). Its approximate weight is 1 pound (0.5 kilograms). The dimensions of the expansion module are 5.32 x 4.00 x 4.4 inches (135 x 100 x 112 millimeters). The recommended clearance all around the module for wiring space and heat dissipation is 4 inches (100 millimeters). The device can be directly mounted to the panel or onto a DIN rail and the connecting cable between units should go by the most direct path possible. Do not twist the cable, it must remain flat.
