The D100ERN8 is an expansion unit that belongs to the D100 series of micro PLCs and it is specially designed to be used with the D100 programmable logic controllers. It is manufactured by Eaton Corporation under the product line named Cutler-Hammer; this Cutler-Hammer D100ERN8 expansion unit is a useful tool in order to connect a controller to a certain number of devices, and it has run out of free inputs. This module has the ability to enlarge the number of inputs that each controller has in order to comply with specific industrial requirements.
The Cutler-Hammer D100ERN8 expansion unit requires a power source of 115 Volts AC and an input of 115 Volts AC and a relay output. This module features an 8-centimeter cable; the Cutler-Hammer D100ERN8 expansion unit can be mounted in an enclosure together with the controller. Both devices can be mounted in a horizontal or vertical way, always taking into account the clearances that have to be between operating devices due to heat loss. It is not recommended that the Cutler-Hammer D100ERN8 expansion unit is mounted in a location in which the humidity overpasses 95%, in which atmosphere is somewhat polluted with chemicals, gasses, salt, or conductive dust, in which there are high voltage and high control panels located in the vicinity, and in which there are high-frequency equipment operating effectively grounded. Following these recommendations will guarantee the correct functioning of the expansion unit. Each controller can be connected to up to two expanders, but the number of inputs used cannot overpass the number of inputs that the controller is able to use. This should be revised before overcharging the controller with extra inputs.
