The Eaton Cutler-Hammer S811V50N3S soft starter is an S811 series soft starter with reduced voltage and a digital interface module, and communications, metering, monitoring, and diagnostic capabilities. The S811V50N3S soft starter has a compact design and it is a multifunctional unit that is easy to install. The S811V50N3S soft starter features simplified operating parameters and it is designed for controlling the acceleration and the stopping of 3-phase motors. The maximum current rating is 500 Amps and the S811V50N3S soft starter comes with a control voltage of 24 Volts DC. The unit also features in-line connections and the nominal control voltage is 24 Volts DC. The overload capacity is rated as 450% for a period of 30 seconds, and the S811V50N3S soft starter is built with overload protection.

As a standard feature, the S811V50N3S soft starter comes with the electronic overload protection that meets the applicable requirements for industrial motor overload protective devices. With the overload protection feature, the S811V50N3S soft starter is protected from excessive heat by using advanced algorithms for true motor heating. This provides the unit with superior motor protection and ensures minimal nuisance trips while the soft starter is in use. The S811V50N3S soft starter has the ability to calculate the thermal memory value by basing it on the heat energy that is introduced into the motor when it is started. A value that is 100% of the heat energy rating value is the maximum safe internal temperature for the motor. Thus, an overload trip occurs when the thermal memory value reaches 100% and the power is automatically disconnected from the motor.
