The Westinghouse EDS2175 is a complete molded case circuit breaker. Its molded case shields the internal components from moisture under normal circumstances, but the internal components are not resistant to high humidity levels. The EDS2175 has an amperage rating of 175 Amps and it is 2-poled. The circuit breaker does not support user-installable trip units because the breaker is factory sealed. The EDS2175 has an F frame size and it belongs to the EDS family of circuit breakers designed and it is manufactured by Westinghouse, a division of the Eaton Corporation. The EDS2175 utilizes a fixed thermal fixed magnetic trip mechanism to protect a circuit against short circuits and overloads. The circuit breaker accommodates a bolt-on connection mechanism. The EDS2175 allows for the installation of an end cap which slides onto the load conductors, giving room for the circuit breaker to accept ring or bolt-on connectors.
The EDS2175, as with other Westinghouse 2-poled F frame circuit breakers, accepts the Imperial KPEK12 end cap kit with a 10 to 32 thread size or the metric KPEKM12 end cap kit with an M-5 thread size. Additionally, the EDS2175 accepts a frame keeper nut which is supplied without screws or washers. The Westinghouse EDS2175 has a capacity of 42 and 10 kAIC at 240 Volts AC and 125 Volts DC, respectively under the UL 489 interrupt capacity standards. The EDS2175 has the same rating even under the IEC 157-1 interrupt capacity standards. The maximum operating voltage for the EDS2175 is 240 Volts at a minimum frequency of 50 Hertz and a maximum frequency of 60 Hertz. The EDS2175 only contains load side terminals.
