The Eaton Cutler-Hammer FD2045 Circuit Breaker is a double pole built thermal magnetic circuit breaker used for both branch and main circuit protection in most low voltage distribution systems. This breaker like all Frame F breakers with thermal-magnetic trip units is a factory assembled complete breaker, with 2 load end terminals designed to protect conductors and devices like motors and motor starters. The FD2045 has 45 Amps current rating, with 35 KAIC interrupt rating, and it is built for an application operating with 600 Volt AC voltage. Like every Series C, Frame F circuit breaker, it is designed and rated for use with applications like Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning, and also built for reverse feed use.
The FD2045 is basically comprised of an insulated enclosure, and integral thermal-magnetic trip unit, 2 supplied standard terminals, and an operating mechanism (trip free). It trip unit has fixed thermal-magnetic trip element which provides instantaneous trip actions using the current heated bimetal strip, and an electromagnet in series with line current which provides magnetic trip action when circuit current exceeds the set value. The FD2045 operating mechanism mechanically holds contacts open in the event of a circuit overload, and it also indicates whether the breaker is ON, OFF, or Tripped. The FD2045, similarly to other Eaton Cutler Hammer Circuit breakers with thermal-magnetic trip units, is 80% rated at a temperature limit of 40 degree Celsius. Any temperature above this limit will begin to derate the carrying current of the breaker. The FD2045 is CSA, UL, CE certified, and it is designed with a total volume of 2.8 x 6.0 x 3.4 inches and an approximate weight of 3.0 pounds.
