The MES3800LS is a 3-Pole Digitrip RMS 310+ Electronic Trip Unit manufactured by the Eaton Corporation. It is suitable for use with Series-C, K-Frame Cutler-Hammer molded case circuit breakers and it is rated 800 Amps of current and 600 Volts AC or 250 Volts DC maximum operating voltage. It features an adjustable short time pickup with short time delay ramp, a performance test jack, and provision for a fixed or adjustable rating plug. A single green Light Emitting Diode (LED) indicates the status of the trip unit and it is ideal for achieving true RMS sensing for protection in events such as successive fault currents and overheating.
No additional power supply is needed by the MES3800LS Digitrip 310+ electronic trip unit to operate its protection systems because it is completely self-contained when the circuit is closed. It derives its operating power from phase current signal levels as well as the control power that is acquired from the current sensors installed in the trip unit. Using an adjustable rating plug with the MES3800LS Digitrip 310+ Trip Unit gives the users an option of setting the switch between A, B, C, or D and it has an integral thermal protection circuitry for self-protecting which trips whenever operations cause it to exceed the range of its ambient operating temperature. The MES3800LS Digitrip RMS 310+ trip unit is designed for both AC (50 to 60 Hertz) and DC use. Overall, it provides an added layer of protection to the control and protective capabilities of circuit breakers and it can be used alongside other internal and external circuit breaker accessories.
