The Eaton Cutler-Hammer RD316T55W is a molded case electronic circuit breaker. The circuit breaker has an amperage rating of 1600 Amps and a maximum voltage of 600 Volts AC. The RD316T55W has an R Frame type which dictates that the circuit breaker includes a trip unit, terminals, and a rating plug. R Frame breakers from Eaton, including the RD316T55W, are suitable for reverse feed use. The circuit breaker has a rated frequency of either 50 or 60 Hertz and an interrupt rating of 125 kAIC at 240 Volts AC. The RD316T55W circuit breaker has 3 poles and it provides protection to 3-phase power systems. The breaker has an interchangeable Digitrip RMS 510 trip unit. The unit uses the Root Mean Square (RMS) current sensing capabilities to provide reliable tripping functions by evaluating the amount of current flowing through the breaker.
With a complete molded case, the RD316T55W can provide prolonged usage times with or without maintenance. Although low required maintenance levels are convenient, they are bound to bring complications if the circuit breaker is not routinely checked. During routine checkups, the RD316T55W should be checked for loose terminals and overheating, which is displayed by the presence of melting signs around the terminals. The presence of cracks anywhere on the circuit breaker is a point of concern. The Eaton Cutler-Hammer RD316T55W Series C electronic circuit breaker has no terminals and its standard ratings are made at a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. The circuit breaker accommodates bolt-on connections. Note that the tripping unit accommodates LSG functions.
