The RD316T56W is molded case circuit breaker designed and manufactured by the Eaton Corporation in ISO certified facilities. The RD316T56W is shipped without terminals, meaning that the terminals need to be ordered separately. The circuit breaker features field-installable rating plugs and a Digitrip RMS 510 trip unit. With the trip unit, the RD316T56W supports an adjustable long delay pickup, an adjustable short delay pickup with a short delay time, an adjustable instantaneous pickup, and an adjustable ground fault pickup with an adjustable ground fault delay. The Westinghouse/Cutler-Hammer/Eaton RD316T56W has 3 poles and a current rating of 1.6 kAIC. Under the CSA interrupt ratings, the RD316T56W has 50 kAIC, 65 kAIC, and 125 kAIC at 600, 480, and 240 Volts AC, respectively.
The RD316T56W is part of Series C of the Eaton circuit breakers with an R Frame type from Eaton/Westinghouse. Breakers in this series have current limiting characteristics due to their high repulsion contact arrangement. Additionally, Series C circuit breakers incorporate the most reliable technology for arc-extinguishing purposes. The RD316T56W is suitable for use in distribution systems and in busbar trucking tap-offs. The RD316T56W electronic circuit breaker meets the Australian Standards (AS), the International Electromechanical Commission (IEC) standards, and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association standards (NEMA), among others. The RD316T56W is also certified by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL). With a height, length, and a width of 15.5, 9.75, and 15.5 inches, respectively, the circuit breaker aims to save space on the mounting panel. The RD316T56W can be used to provide protection to a circuit using a 3-phase power source.
