The EGB2080FFG is a 2-pole circuit breaker with a maximum current rating of 80 Amps. The circuit breaker is from the G Series of molded case circuit breakers from Eaton. The EGB2080FFG has a fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip unit type. The device has a temperature-sensitive device along with a current-sensitive device which detects overcurrents or short circuit conditions and even thermal overload conditions. The way these circuit breakers work are that they monitor the current that is flowing through the device and the heat generated by the device is a direct function of the square of the RMS current and the time for which the current flows.
The current ratings are available from the current charts which are provided by the manufacturer. In the event of a short circuit, a high current flows through the device, and when the current flowing through the device exceeds the rated current limit, the circuit breaker trips isolating the line and the load terminals. Tripping also occurs when there is an overload condition because the current draw increases due to an excess load connected on the load terminals. To install the EGB2080FFG, the users must first inspect it for any visible damages and then install the circuit breaker according to the instructions provided. The users also need to maintain and perform regular inspection and tests to make sure that the EGB2080FFG is working as expected. After the installation is complete, the users must perform the necessary functional and safety tests for the safety of the customer.
