The EGS3080FFG is a circuit breaker that employs three poles and a thermal-magnetic mechanism in order to detect abnormalities in the current of an electric distribution system. This circuit breaker has been manufactured, designed, and distributed by Eaton Cutler-Hammer. The Eaton Cutler-Hammer EGS3080FFG circuit breaker has been designed under the specifications of the Series G of molded case circuit breakers. It includes standard line and load terminals and a base mounting hardware. The Eaton Cutler-Hammer EGS3080FFG circuit breaker has three poles that are interconnected between them to ease the communication process when performing a tripping action. These are in charge of performing the tripping action once the bimetal or magnet has detected the fault.
The Eaton Cutler-Hammer EGS3080FFG circuit breaker operates at a voltage of 600 Volts AC and an ampere rating of 80 Amps at 40 degrees Celsius. This breaker is sensitive to high temperatures, thus ambient air temperature around it should be maintained at the calibration temperature, which can be 40 or 50 degrees Celsius. If the breaker is included in an enclosure or cabinet with a poor ventilation system, it must be derated. Slow heat dissipation can affect the performance of the breaker in a huge manner. The Eaton Cutler-Hammer EGS3080FFG circuit breaker has a built-in ground fault protection and there is a wide range of field-fit accessories that can be applied in order to improve the performance of the breaker. Terminal shields are also available for line terminals and multi-wire connectors can also be applied. This breaker is 30 percent smaller than other breakers in the market.
