The Eaton Cutler-Hammer JGS3225FAG Molded Case Circuit Breaker is a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker in the Series G family of general purpose beakers which provide short-circuit and overload protection to connected devices and conductors. This breaker is designed for use with applications and appliances rated “HACR”, and like all Series G breakers, it is designed to have a space-saving footprint with field-fit internal accessories for easy use and conserved space. The JGS3225FAG has a nominal current rating of 225 Amps, with a maximum current interrupting limits of 35 kAIC at 480 Volts AC, and it is rated at 600 Volts AC. It has a 3-pole design designated for 3-phase and 1-phase wiring, and it is HACR rated for use with air-conditioning, refrigerating, and heating applications.
Like all Series G assembled circuit breakers, it consists of load and line side terminals, an adjustable magnetic and a fixed thermal trip unit, and a frame with an insulated enclosure. The JGS3225FAG’s terminals are made of copper/ aluminum conductors, and it has mounting hardware for facilitating installations. Its trip unit consists of a load-heated bimetal strip which deflects upon detecting a prolonged overload, causing a thermal trip, and it has an electromagnet trip element which provides instantaneous trip action when the current exceeds the set values. It has a trip-free handle toggle operating mechanism, which prevents the breaker’s contacts from being held closed in the case of overloads, and it indicates also whether the breaker is on, off or tripped. The JGS3225FAG is UL, CSA, and IEC certified, and it weighs approximately 104.9 x 177.8 x 90.7 millimeters (4.13 x 7.00 x 3.57 inches), with a net weight of 2.7 kilograms (6 pounds).
