The D100DER20 comes from the Cutler-Hammer brand family of Programmable Controllers (PLCs). The D100 Series (Numa-Logic), also known as “the Pico”, is a rugged style programmable logic controller with a limited number of digital inputs and outputs, which are mounted in the same enclosure as the processor. The D100DER20 20 I/O Expander with 30 centimeter Cable is an expander that can be connected to any of Cutler-Hammer’s controllers. This expander can extend the controller’s Input/Output capability up to the maximum number of inputs and outputs that the controller can accommodate. Up to two expanders can be connected, provided that the total number of I/O ports (controller and all expanders) does not exceed the maximum limit of the controller. The expander is connected to the controller or to other expanders by a short connecting cable. A longer, optional cable is available.
While expanders come in various specifications, the D100DER20 expander comes with a total of 20 I/O, with 12 inputs and 8 outputs and with a 30-centimeter connecting cable. The input power for this module is a 24 Volt DC power, and its dry contact inputs are also rated at 24 Volts DC, while the output is a relay type at 24 Volts DC or 230 Volts AC. The D100DER20 expander should be mounted along with the connected controller in a protective enclosure that is suited to the environment in which they are installed. It can be mounted either horizontally or vertically on a DIN rail or on the panel directly, using the connecting cable from the bottom of the controller. The controller can be mounted either on the top of the expander or to its right. Ensure that the connecting cables lay flat, and are not twisted. The D100DER20, as with members of its family, has several important CPU features, such as a memory of 1K RAM (EE-PROM or UV PROM), a scan time per 1 K memory of 8 milliseconds, 16 timers and counters each, a 128-steps shift register, a 256 step sequence, and a direct connect message display.
