The D100EA20 is an expansion unit that is manufactured by the Cutler-Hammer brand. This 20 I/O expansion module has been designed with a 30-centimeter cable to function under a 115 Volt AC power supply. The expansion module has also been manufactured to have 24 Volt DC contacts, which are usually dry. The D100EA20 was primarily designed to provide additional outputs and inputs to the D100 PLC. The expansion unit is normally connected to the controller by way of cables. A controller can only accommodate a maximum of two expanding units, provided that the total number of inputs and outputs from the controller and the expander combined do not exceed the maximum I/O count listed for the controller.
The D100EA20 is not usually affected by the connection of an analog input module into the D100 controller since the analog input module is usually connected before the D100EA20. This only occurs when certain analog capabilities are required in the controller’s system. The D100EA20 expansion cables should be separated from any other cables, especially the power and input/output cables. Do not intertwine the expansion cables with the power and input/output cables. Always replace the connector covers after inserting the D100EA20’s cables. Note that the module’s expansion cables should not be disconnected or connected with the power on. Before applying power, make all connections and inspect them carefully. Remember to remove the power when detaching the expansion cables.
