The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 2711-K6C8 is a Human Machine Interface Device capable of implementing real time process interaction to a machine or process. As this unit has an internal electronic circuitry, the hardware is preferred to be installed in enclosures or panel that offers adequate protection and working space for the electronic circuit and the HMI terminal. The HMI terminal visually updates the process operator regarding the status of devices and equipment in the process by means of the 5-inch colored screen. Access to some application screens (including the terminal configuration screens) may be restricted by requiring a user to log-in a specific username and password. The operator inputs control, manipulation or adjustments through the 10 button Function keys from, F1 to F10. Operator actions may also be limited depending on the current operator right defined in the security settings of the terminal. This way, unprivileged function cannot be accidentally triggered. Some exam[les of this scenario are changing of process settings such as alarm and PID settings or simply turning on and off or bypassing an instrument. Data is simultaneously communicated to and from the process by means of the Data Highway Plus (DH+) communication port. The built-in RS232 is dedicated for printing alarm list and messages. The approximate shipping weight of the terminal is 6 lbs. with dimension of 14 x 11 x 8 in. During product active cycle, multiple series were released such as series A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, and L with firmware ranging from firmware version 1.00-4.48. The operator terminal comes with a memory of 170KB RAM and 240KB non-volatile memory. The internal circuitry is powered by an AC source rated 18-32 VDC. The HMI hardware is configured using PanelBuilder32 software.
