The FDB2040 is an FBD circuit breaker that has been designed and manufactured by Eaton Corporation. This breaker belongs to Series C of the molded case circuit breakers and its size belongs to the F Frame product line. The Eaton Corporation FDB2040 FBD circuit breaker combines 2 detection mechanisms that consist basically of thermal and magnetic detection technology. These 2 mechanisms combined guarantee a fast and efficient detection process. Once the breaker has detected abnormal current conditions, it performs a tripping action that stops the current flow, impeding abnormal conditions before they cause damage to the whole system and the equipment connected to it. Breakers with this mechanism are considered standard in the industry.
The Eaton Corporation FDB2040 FBD circuit breaker has a voltage rating of 600 Volts AC and 250 Volts DC. It features a maximum amperage rating of 40 Amps. This amperage rating has been proven in the open air to determine the performance of the breaker. The breaker has been calibrated at a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. If the operating temperature required by any application is higher than 40 degrees Celsius the breaker should be calibrated again to know the new maximum amperage and interrupting rating. Some derating might occur if the breaker is installed into an enclosure with a poor ventilation system, this can directly reflect its performance and the protection level offered by the breaker. The Eaton Corporation FDB2040 FBD circuit breaker can be located in series with other similar breakers to increase the level of protection offered, and these can be located strategically through the whole system.
