The Eaton GD2040 is a complete molded case circuit breaker. It has a G frame and it belongs to Series C and Type GD of the Eaton circuit breakers. The GD2040 is a 2-pole circuit breaker with 40 Amps of current rating. Its voltage ratings are 480 Volts AC and 125 to 250 Volts DC. The frequency ratings for the circuit breaker are 50 to 60 Hertz. The GD2040 is rated at 65 kiloamps interrupt capacity at 240 Volts AC and at 14 kiloamps interrupt capacity at 480 Volts AC. At 250 Volts DC, the GD2040 is rated at 10 kiloamps interrupt capacity. The GD2040 is based on a fixed thermal, fixed magnetic trip unit. It is a UL listed circuit breaker.
Accessories available for use with the GD circuit breaker include an auxiliary switch, lock dog, shunt trip, undervoltage release mechanism, and a padlockable handle. The UL certification requires factory sealing for the breakers. Therefore, the GD2040 is factory sealed after the installation of accessories. Installation of accessories in the field can be performed wherever it is allowed by local codes and regulations. Property damage, injury, or even death can occur due to contact with energized electrical devices, so the GD2040 should only be installed and serviced when it is not energized, with the circuit breaker switch in the off position. All the connected electrical equipment should also be de-energized. Furthermore, local safety codes and regulations should also be followed. The GD2040 has dimensions of 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.75 inches. The weight of the circuit breaker is 1.37 pounds.
