The Eaton JD2200 is a standard interrupting capacity circuit breaker that has been included in Series C of the Eaton molded circuit breakers. This circuit breaker uses thermal-magnetic technology and it has been designed and manufactured by the Eaton Corporation (formerly Cutler-Hammer). This technology detects abnormal transients by the use of magnets and heat. Trip action can be achieved both through a metal device that obtains a temperature from the load current and from electromagnets placed in series. The Cutler-Hammer JD2200 standard interrupting capacity circuit breaker operates with a line voltage range of 600 Volts AC and it has a performance of 35 symmetrical Amps at a specific voltage of 480 Volts AC. This circuit breaker also has a maximum ampere rating of 200 Amps at a specific temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
If the application requires a higher operating temperature than 40 degrees Celsius, the circuit breaker might require a new calibration process to define the level of derating required. Derating the breaker can also be done if the circuit breaker is used within an enclosure. The Cutler-Hammer JD2200 standard interrupting capacity circuit breaker has 2 poles and it is a factory assembled circuit that contains a frame, trip units, and terminals. These 2 poles share a common bar, and if 1 of the poles detects the fault first, both of them are going to cause a trip action. The Cutler-Hammer JD2200’s standard interrupting capacity circuit breaker is used for general purpose applications and it is also considered an industry standard. It provides accurate and reliable overload and short-circuits protection to both the circuit and the equipment involved.
