The Eaton LD4500 is a complete Series C circuit breaker. It has 4 poles and 500 Amps of current rating. An integrated and interchangeable thermal-magnetic trip unit is provided with the LD4500. The voltage ratings for the breaker are 250 Volts DC and 600 Volts AC. The interrupting capacity specifications are 22 kAIC at 250 Volts DC, 25 kAIC at 600 Volts AC, 35 kAIC at 480 Volts AC, and 65 kAIC at 240 Volts AC. The LD4500 is an LD type of circuit breaker with terminals. Important precautions need to be followed during installation and maintenance of the breaker and these include clearing the work area of high voltages and putting the breaker in the off state.
The Eaton Series C molded case circuit breakers such as the LD4500 are designed to provide many years of maintenance-free operation. Despite this, it is recommended to carry out limited amounts of field inspection and field testing on a periodic basis. During the inspection, the breaker must be in the off state. Checks to be performed during inspection include removing moisture, dust, and grease from the breaker surface, checking mechanical linkages by switching the breaker on and off a few times, checking the mechanical tripping function by pressing the push-to-trip button, checking the wire connecting terminals and the other types of bus bar connectors for looseness or for signs of overheating, and checking the breaker mounting hardware. The L Frame LD4500 has the following dimensions: 10.75 inches in height, 11.00 inches in width, and 4.06 inches in depth.
