The Eaton Cutler-Hammer LDB3450W Series C Molded Case Circuit Breaker is a factory pre-assembled thermal-magnetic circuit breaker with a non-interchangeable trip unit that is used for the protection of conductors and connected devices from overloads and short-circuits. It has a 3-pole design with 3-phase and single-phase designated wiring, and unlike most Frame L devices, this circuit breaker is designed without line or load end terminals. The LDB3450W has a nominal current rating of 450 Amps, a maximum short-circuits rating (interrupt rating) of 35 kAIC, and it used in low-voltage distribution systems, with 600 Volts AC and 250 Volts DC maximum operating voltage. It made up of a frame consisting of an insulated enclosure, an operating mechanism, and a non-adjustable trip unit.
The trip unit is made of thermal and magnetic trip elements, and it provides trip action for the operating mechanism. Each trip action is achieved through a current heated bimetal strip which deflects a prolonged overload and through a series of connected electromagnets which cause an instantaneous trip action when the line current exceeds the set value. The LDB3450W has a trip-free operating mechanism whose functions include being a means of opening and closing the breaker's contacts, preventing contacts from being closely held in abnormal current conditions, and also indicating whether the breaker is tripped off, and on. It has an ambient temperature limit of 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), and it is suitable for use in an environment with a non-condensing relative humidity level of between 5 and 95%. The LDB3450W has total shipping dimensions of 209.6 x 273.1 x 103.1 millimeters (8.25 x 10.75 x 4.06 inches), with an approximate weight of 9.1 kilograms (20 pounds), and is CE-marked and CSA, UL, and BS certified.
