About MDL2400

The MDL2400 is a thermal magnetic circuit breaker manufactured by Eaton Cutler-Hammer. The Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker is part of Series C of the Eaton MDL type of molded case circuit breakers. The Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker features 400 Amps of current rating, 600 Volts AC, 2 poles, 1 phase, 50 kAIC at 480 Volts AC, and a feed-through connection. The Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker is contained in the Frame M Enclosure. The Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker is equipped with a multiwire connector which is field-mounted and used in load side end terminals. The multiwire connector is utilized in distributing loads from the Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker to several other modules by using a single distribution terminal block. The Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker can be configured with a rear-fed terminal that allows the backside connection of a cable to the circuit breaker instead of the circuit breaker topside.

The Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker is equipped with an interphase barrier that offers additional electrical clearance between the 2 poles, making it suitable for special termination systems. The interphase barrier is fabricated from a high dielectric insulating plate and it is mounted in the modified slot between the terminals. The Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker features  a shunt trip that is used for tripping the circuit breaker remotely. The operator is not recommended to use the circuit breaker when it is open to execute simultaneously opening command to the shunt trip when securing the Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker from closing. This means that the interlocking circuit consisting of continuous commands may not be configured with shunt trip. The operator should avoid idle-switching the circuit breaker because it reduces the sustainability of the Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit. The Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker is configured with a cause of trip display which is field-installed. The cause of trip display is designed to provide the Cutler-Hammer MDL2400 circuit breaker information via an LCD monitor, for example, the cause of the trip, ground current, phrase current, and the low loads. The cause of trip display is applicable in troubleshooting typical trips such as a long delay, ground fault, and an instantaneous or short delay.
