The Eaton Cutler-Hammer EGB3040AFG is a circuit breaker that is one of the compact circuit protection solutions from Series G of the Eaton circuit breakers. This product series is intended for global applications and it offers circuit breakers rated from 15 to 2500 Amps of current. The series is divided into 5 frame categories where each frame type has a different amperage rating. The circuit breakers with an EG frame are HACR rated and those with the thermal-magnetic trip type with an amperage rating of 10 to 50 Amps are suitable for high-intensity discharge (HID) usage. The main purpose of circuit breakers is to provide a much-needed circuit protection for systems with low voltage distribution. These breakers meet the requirements of a global customer base and they are manufactured according to all of the relevant standards such as the UL, IEC, CCC, CSA, and the CE. The EGB3040AFG, in particular, meets the requirements of the UL and CSA. The Series G breakers have multiple options and they come with standard internal accessories that can be installed in the field.
As has been mentioned, the EGB3040AFG circuit breaker has a molded case and also an EG type of frame which can be read from the way the product code is constructed. Other information that can be read from the product code is 3 poles and an amperage rating of 40 Amps. The EG breakers have a maximum rated current of 160 Amps. In regard to trip units, this type of circuit breaker comes with an adjustable thermal and fixed magnetic trip type. Other features include line and load terminals and a breaker capacity of 25 kAIC at 240 Volts AC, 18 kAIC at 480 Volts AC, and 10 kAIC at 125/250 Volts DC. The dimensions of the circuit breaker are as follows: 139.7 millimeters (5.5 inches) x 76.2 millimeters (3 inches) x 76 millimeters (2.99 inches). The EGB3040AFG weighs only 1.04 kilograms or 2.28 pounds.
